As you can see in the picture above there is a lot of open space with no decoration, natural light comes through the window attracting people into it. A kitchen needs both decoration and lighting because one without the other won’t do the job or keep you satisfied. A kitchen without decoration will either be too dull or not aesthetically pleasing to the viewer, whereas a kitchen with no lighting makes it hard to cook, eat comfortably and even difficult for others to enjoy food. If possible natural light should always come in the room because it’s free and doesn’t need turning on so you won’t be using electricity and it will not affect the cost of your rent and bills.
At first glance, people would walk into a kitchen and think that there’s no decoration because there’s nothing there to even catch their eye, but after looking around if you spot something like a fridge or counter you’ll start noticing things such as flowers placed neatly in a glass jar. This will give people the idea that whoever lives or uses this kitchen has good taste.
If you know anything about lighting, “You can’t have too much of a good thing” so the more light the better and it’s even better if it comes from a natural source such as a window. Using only a table lamp is not a bad idea either but there should be at least three different types of bulbs in your kitchen such as a regular light bulb, a dimming light and then for those late nights there should be a nightlight. These bulbs will make it easy to adjust the lighting depending on what you’re doing at the time; whether you’re busy cooking under the bright lights.
The kitchen that you can see in the picture above has both decoration and lighting, but it doesn’t have anything to catch your eye because the decorations are too dull and boring to make an impact. There is also no natural light coming through the window which makes it hard for people working there to see what they’re doing. The decoration in this kitchen is also not symmetrical with the layout of the room so it’s very obvious that there is no balance inside which can be off putting to some people.
